Assembly news 16th November

It has been such a busy week for everyone.

The Junior Infant children had great fun this week planting bulbs with Niall. Ms Colvin’s class are really enjoying reading about Jake and Tizzy every week and bringing the stories home. Ms Bowen’s class love playing the 3 little pigs game, trying to build houses before the wolf blows them down.

In Senior Infants, Ms Cashin’s and Ms Kennedy’s classes were also outside planting bulbs with Niall. They planted crocuses and snowdrops. They did a great job! They are enjoying Science week and have done the rainbow and lava lamp experiments.

In first class news, Ms. Daly’s class finished their Zones project. They were so good that they all got a certificate and a prize. Mr. Walshe’s class started English stations this week. All of the teachers are so happy with them. Ms. Curley’s class are working hard on building boats for Science week. It is hard work but they are doing great.

Ms. Ryan’s have been busy building bridges for Science week. They are having so much fun.

Ms Monahan’s class had a very nice trip to the library yesterday and loved picking their new books. Ms Hennessy’s class had a fabulous week doing lots of science experiments. Their favourite was the balloon powered car one. Mrs Byrne’s class had a lovely time being guests in other classes for two days this week. They would like to say thanks for having them.

Assembly News 11th November

First Class are having fun learning all about Kenya. Mr Walshe’s class are excited to start Literacy Lift Off next week. Ms Curley’s class are reading a lovely story called Tara the Tooth. Ms Daly’s are learning an amazing dance in PE

Ms Ryan’s class worked so hard sorting all the shoeboxes. Well done!

In Junior Infants, Ms Colvin’s class are doing the 3 little pigs in Aistear. They are learning all about different materials that build houses. Ms Bowen’s class are learning about recycling and they are so good at recognising the recycling sign.

In Senior Infant’s Ms Cashin’s class are enjoying reading the story of The Tiger who came to tea. Ms Kennedy’s class are learning all about a café and are going to set up one in their classroom.

2nd class has been a very busy block this week. Each class had the important job of walking down to Dealz in Fonthill on Tuesday with the Christmas shoe boxes. They are going to help those children less fortunate than us. 2nd class are also starting to get ready for the Christmas play and the best performance ever!

Assembly News 28th October

Here is the news for this week. Ms Hennessy’s class have been making witches houses
out of paper for art this week. Ms Monahan’s class are delighted that she is back and feeling better! Mrs Byrne’s class have been learning about the origins of Halloween with Mr O Sioráin.

In First Class, Ms Ryan’s are playing Halloween games like snap apple and apple on the
string. Ms Curley’s class cut a bairin Breac and Troy Brady got the ring. Mr Walshe’s class have been carving a pumpkin. Ms Daly’s class are playing bobbing for the apple and eating Bairin Breac. They did a great job helping Niall with weeding.

In Senior Infants Ms Cashin’s class had a great trip to the library and got some lovely books. Ms Kennedy’s class are so happy to welcome Dhanvin back to their class. In Junior Infants, Ms Bowen’s class had a Halloween fruit party. Ms Colvin’s class are carving pumpkins in Aistear.

Assembly news 21st October

In Junior Infants, Miss Colvin’s class had a special visitor this week. Tizzy the Tiger came to visit. It was great fun.
Miss Bowen’s class went out to watch the tree surgeons at work. It was very interesting to watch the trees being trimmed.

The Senior Infant classes are getting ready for Halloween. Ms Cashin’s class went on a visit to the Halloween garden and thought it was very spooky! Ms Kennedy’s class are setting up a witches’ den and will be making spells and potions!

In First Class, Ms Curley’s class are really enjoying learning new athletic skills with Janice and maybe some of them might be in the Olympics.
Ms Daly’s Literacy Lift Off is finishing next week. The children have worked so hard and are becoming better and fluent readers. Mr Walshe’s class made spooky Halloween witches in art this week.
In Ms Ryan’s class , Ms Monahan’s class is going to have a games tournament with her children.

In Second Class, Ms Monahan’s class have been learning about mindfulness and taking deep breaths this week. Ms Hennessy’s class have been measuring and comparing each other’s heights in maths. Mrs Byrne’s class had a great trip to the library yesterday with Mr O’Sioráin and love their new books!

Assembly News 14th October

Here is the news for this week. In Second Class, Ms Monahan’s class have been sewing ghosts this week. Ms Hennessy’s class have been learning about the inventor Thomas Edison. He invented the lightbulb.

Mrs Byrne’s class are looking forward to Mr O Sioráin and Ms Foley coming in to teach them over the next 2 weeks. They will have lots of fun and will be very good!

Senior Infants have been very busy this week. Ms Cashin’s class have been sorting lots of Autumn leaves and seeds. They have been learning about hedgehogs. Ms Kennedy’s class went on an Autumn hunt with checklists and found lots of signs of Autumn.

The Junior Infant children are having fun learning about Autumn in Aistear. Ms Colvin’s class had a nature hunt around the school and found lots of signs of Autumn. Ms Bowen’s class enjoyed collecting leaves in a wheelbarrow and singing Autumn leaves are falling down.

In First class news ,Ms. Daly’s class are in Halloween spirit. They are playing games like The Haunted House and Zombies. Mr. Walshe’s class went on an autumn walk around the school. They saw lots of signs of autumn. Ms. Curley’s class were scientists this week. They measured the temperature outside and inside the classroom. Ms. Ryan’s class made a cooked breakfast last Friday. They had sausages, pudding, eggs, beans and toast.

Assembly News 7th of October

Here is the news for this week. In First Class, Ms. Ryan’s class are following the golden rules. She is so proud of them. Ms. Daly’s class have been doing great freeze frames of the 4 seasons in drama. Mr. Walshe’s class are making songs in music using their body to make sounds. Zoe Carr in Ms. Curley’s class got a new dog. Her name is Ayla.

Well done to the Starlette Twirlers in their competition in Cork last weekend. They were great and won lots of trophies and prizes. Well done girls. Eva and Emma from 1 st class showed us their dance at assembly.

The children in Junior Infants have been learning about growing and changing. Bodhi’s mam brought in his little brother, Ziggy so the children could learn about what babies need to grow and learn. Franklin’s little sister, Dream is coming in next week to visit the children.

The children in Senior Infants are learning all about Autumn. They will be going on a nature walk very soon. Sean in Ms Kennedy’s class brought in a big bag of shiny conkers. Samantha in Ms Cashin’s class has a new baby brother. Congratulations to all the family.

Ms Monahan’s class enjoyed World Tree Day and learning all about different kinds of trees. Ms Hennessy’s class had a great trip to the library yesterday and love their new books. Mrs Byrne’s class have started rehearsing their Halloween song and have been practicing actions to go with it.

Admissions

The admissions period for the 2022/23 school year will begin on Monday, 14th of February and close on Thursday, 24th of March.
