We were thrilled to be awarded a Gold Curious Minds Award for another year. Huge congratulations to everyone for all their work on Science, Engineering, Technology and Maths. Big thank you to Ms Monahan for organising everything. Here’s what the Curious Minds had to say about our school!
Congratulations to St. Bernadette’s Junior NS on delivering an excellent log of your Curious Minds experiences this year. The log clearly demonstrates evidence of learner engagement across the school, while also incorporating STEM events. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to see the learners at the Dino Detectives workshop at the zoo. It was great to see your parent come to the school and get involved in the Maths week activities. Well done on the Show and Tell presenting your projects to the school, teachers and parents. .
Keep up this fantastic work and well done on your award!
Our School now has high speed broadband connectivity through the Department of Education School Broadband Programme, delivered as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU

All classes enjoyed celebrating World Book Week. Each child received a book token and they can visit one of our local shops to purchase a book. There were many activities taking place in our school to celebrate World Book Day including; Where’s Wally Hunt, Creating a class book, Library Visits and much more. Here are some of our children enjoying the celebrations.

We all enjoyed some delicious pancakes this morning! The children had lots of tasty toppings to choose from chocolate spread, strawberries and marshmallows were definitely the firm favourite. Happy Pancake Tuesday 🙂

We are all using a new app called Reading Eggs in school. It makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities. And it really works! Children love the games, songs, golden eggs and other rewards which, along with feeling proud of their reading, really motivate children to keep exploring and learning. We hope you can use the app at home and help the children win as many golden eggs as possible to move to the next level.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls that had full attendance this term! Well done!

Congratulations to the November attendance champions!

Ms Heffernan’s class has been working hard on their writing in Literacy Lift Off. They have been working on creating interesting stories with detailed characters and settings. They created a plan for their story, they wrote a draft and then typed the finished product. Have a look at their amazing work. Well done second class!
