More fun from the park party!

In January we set up a Student Council. 1 child from each infant class and 2 children from the older classes were selected. They have met on a few occasions to discuss different issues in the school. They helped to decide on the Park Party as our prize for achieving our Strive for 5 Attendance initiative by holding a vote in their classes and bringing that information to the next meeting. The Park Party was a greta success. Next up the Student Council have decided to start doing ‘kindness shout outs’ at assembly. Student Council members will be on the look out for people being kind on yard and will give them a special shout out at assembly. Thank you to Theo, our Student Council chairperson for bringing the idea to Mr Ward and getting the go ahead! Watch this space for monthly updates on who has been spotted being kind on yard. 🙂
Well done to all the children for achieving our Strive for 5 goal. Our aim was to reach 650 weeks. It took a bit longer than planned to get there but last week we made it and reached 690 weeks!! The whole school got to go to the park for a park party. It was a gorgeous spring day. Here are some photos of Senior Infants enjoying their treat. 🙂

Well done to the February Attendance Champions who came into school every day that week and helped us to achieve our Strive for 5 goal!!
World book day fortnight is starting Monday 23rd February. We have lots of fun activities in store. All the children will receive book tokens this Friday. Any child that collects their free book will recieve a prize in assembly next week.

Thank you to Marcus from First Class for helping to collect the attendance data today as Second class were on their trip to St. Brigid’s Well. This week we only managed to get 99 weeks. We are hoping to do better next week as it is only a short week. We have 3 weeks left to make up the remaining 437 weeks we need to reach 650 weeks. It is a big challenge but we can do it!!

Well done to all the January Attendance Champions!! 🙂

We are starting our Strive for 5 initiative again to try and encourage everyone to come to school every day. For the next 5 weeks we are tracking our attendance to see if we can beat our last attendance drive. In October we managed to reach over 500 ‘weeks’. Every child who is in school for a full week counts as one week. This time we are attempting an even bigger challenge. We have added on an extra week and we are hoping to reach 650 weeks!! We will need everybody to try their best to come in every day.
More news to follow from our brand new Student Council on what the prize will be!!

On the last day before the Christmas holidays we celebrated all the children in the school who had missed 0 days or only 1 day in the first term. Congratulations and keep up the good work!! 🙂

Well done to the last attendance champions of the year!!!
